Introducing the BDP-S1
The BDP-S1 is a very substantial and very attractive Blu-ray player with a silver casing and a front Blue front-panel covering half of the face plate. When opening and closing the player, you are met with a soft touch while they glow a soft white when the unit is turned on.
The BDP-S1 is not equipped with a HDMI 1.3 output, but instead the bog-standard HDMI output. This is a hardware thing, which means that the player won't be capable of sending out loseless audio.
Even without HDMI 1.3, it's not a deal-breaker for most people, the unit could receive future firmware updates which would hopefully allow it to understand the new Dolby and DTS codecs and convert the audio channels to multichannel PCM.
